Poor defence saw the Fiji Airways Fijian 7s team lose their three pool games at the Kitakyushu 7s in Japan yesterday.

The Saiasi Fuli-coached side failed to achieve their target of a top eight finish.

They were walloped by Ireland 31-10 before they suffered a 31-5 drubbing at the hands of USA and then were beaten 33-15 by England.

Ireland 31-10 Fiji, USA 43-7 England, Canada 26-17, Australia 47-0 China, France 33-10 Russia, New Zealand 43-0 Japan, Ireland 0-31 England, USA 31-5 Fiji, Canada 42-19 China, Australia 36-5 Spain, New Zealand 17-17 Russia, France 33-19 Japan, Fiji 15-35 Eng- land, (the games were still going on when this edition went to press last night).
