2 Fishermen Still Missing In Bua Waters

Two teams of Police officers that went searching for two missing fishermen in Bua waters returned to Nabouwalu Police Station today .
Divisional Police Commander (DPC) Northern Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Eparama Waqa confirmed that the teams have conducted search for two days and had to return because of rough seas.
“The Police teams are trying their best to find the missing two men but our work is affected by continuous bad weather,” SSP Waqa said.
“The two men from Bua went fishing out in the nearby reef on Saturday and failed to return by the evening.
The matter was reported by the family members.”
Meanwhile, Adrea Mata, a family friend of two fishermen (Losio Vulai, 70, and Ameri Ratucoko, 58) said the two were cousins.
“They both have five children and enjoyed fishing a lot,” Mr Mata said.
“Losio was from Makolei Village and Ameri was from Vuya Village.
They both went in a fiber boat to catch fish for Easter Sunday lunch and didn’t return.
Men from both villages formed two teams to conduct search also but returned due to bad weather.”
