Varadoli Win First Sangam IDC Title
Midfielder Avinesh Gounder scored for Varadoli to hand them their first title of the Dakshina India Andhra Sangam IDC at Xavier College in Ba yesterday.
Gounder scored in the 71 minutes of extra time to edge defending champions Ba 1-0 after both teams were locked 0-0.
Ba had the experience but was not able to sustain the challenge from the Shameel Rao captained-Varadoli side who made their debut in the competition last year.
Ba had a chance to equalise with the penalty but skipper Nilesh Ram missed.
Varadoli Coach Etonia Delai said; Through teamwork we managed to win this beautiful trophy.
Ba coach Satya Raj said; “It was a tough match and credit goes to Varad- oli as this was their first title. We won last year and now it’s their turn.” Results: (semifinal) Gallau 0-1 Ba, Varadoli 1-0 Nadi.
Quarterfinal: Gallau 3-0 Lomawai, Ba 3-1 Vaqia, Nadi 3-2 Nasinu, Vara- doli 3-1 Lautoka.
