Warning Of More Heavy Rainfall

A heavy rain warning remains in force for the eastern and southern half of Viti Levu.

This includes Rakiraki, Tailevu, Naitasiri, Nausori, Navua, Lau and Lomaiviti Group, Vanua Levu, Taveuni and nearby smaller islands.

The Nadi National Weather Office in Nadi reports that this was due to a trough of low pressure with associated cloud and rain remains slow moving over the Fiji group.

People can expect periods of rain, heavy at times and squally thunderstorms. Heavy falls may also lead to flash
flooding.

The Weather Office says that a flood warning remains in force for low-lying areas and downstream of Korovou Town, Naqali Bridge, Waidina River.

A flood alert remains in force for the low-lying areas, small streams and areas adjacent to major rivers in Fiji.

A heavy rain alert remains in force for Vanua Levu.

Residents in Vanua Levu are advised there will be occasional rain and few thunderstorms with heavy falls that may lead to flash flooding of low-lying areas.
