Fiji Airways Fijiana 7s Team Ranked 9th In Japan

The Fiji Airways Fijiana 7s team won the Challenge Trophy at the Kitakyushu Sevens in Japan yesterday.
After losing all their pool games against Ireland, England and United States on Saturday, the Saiasi Fuli-coached side bounced back to beat Japan 28-17 in the semifinal before thrashing Spain 41-12.
Fiji picked up four points and stand ninth on the World Rugby Women Sevens Series.
But the highlight of the two-day event was trans-tasman neighbours Australia and New Zealand eliminated in the Cup quarterfinals.
New Zealand earlier lost 9-29 to France in pool play and was then eliminated by the United States 26-19 in the Cup quarterfinal.
Australia earlier lost 14-17 to Canada in pool play and was eliminated 7-21 by England in the Cup quarterfinal.
The teams played for the 5th place playoff won by the Kiwis 34-26.
