Fiji Council of Churches Stands By Sri Lankan Church Body
Our hearts go to hundreds of innocent Sunday School children who joyously celebrated Easter by singing choruses before they were blown into pieces by this despicable act of terrorism, says the Reverend Iliesa Naivalu, the general secretary of the Fiji Council of Churches.

Members of the Fiji Council of Churches wish to extend to you and the Roman Catholic Church in Sri Lanka our deepest and profound sympathy for the victims of the barbaric coordinated series of bombings in your three churches on Easter.

Christians in Fiji stand with your members and the people of Sri Lanka in solidarity praying for peace and comfort for all families of the victims and quick recovery for the wounded.

Our hearts go to hundreds of innocent Sunday School children who joyously celebrated Easter by singing choruses before they were blown into pieces by this despicable act of terrorism.

While repercussions of such barbaric attacks will linger on in the minds of families and the wounded in years to come, we pray that the Resurrection Power of our Lord will strengthen them to attain true healing and enable them to stand firm against such cruel barbarism.

It is our prayer, that as the glimpse of light shone through the dark morn of that first Easter, the same will brighten the hearts of your church members and the whole people of Sri Lanka, reminding them that Resurrection is always about a new beginning.
