Well done Rishikul Sanatan College, you will do the country proud.

The Nasinu-based school has been chosen to participate in the 52nd annual meeting of the ADB Board Governors Host Country Reception at the InterContinental Fiji Golf Resort & Spa on May 3.

The Prosperity Through Unity themed meeting will be held in Nadi, from Wednesday, May 1 to Sunday, May 5.

Rishikul Sanatan College Kula Dance co-ordinator and teacher Elaine Chandra said: “I received a call from Ministry of Civil Service that the Attorney-General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum wanted us to perform at the ADB meeting in Nadi because we were the winners of 2018, Annual Kula – Fiji Link Dance competition.”

Currently, she said they are the country’s best dance group in terms of the schools, based on that she noted they have been chosen to particpate at the ADB meeting.

“I believe they want to promote youths, so this is a way they motivate the youths to use their talents and not just academically.

“We are really happy that our school got chosen, we got to know that other good dance groups were also considered, but yet we were chosen.

“It’s a really big thing for the school and these students who are really excited.

“We have received a lot of support from parents, teachers and students in terms of the preparations.

“They are doing a fusion dance, trying to include everything that makes Fiji-Fiji.

“They will perform a meke, Polynesian dance, deli, classical and a little bit of hip hop, so the boys are really fascinated and are really hyped up.”

Year 12 student, Jonetani Suguturaga said it would be his first time participating at an international stage and infront of finance ministers from around the world. He said he was feeling excited to showcase his talent with his 15 member team.
