Rayshal Roy, 15, had been a good son, student and friend. These were the words shared during the funeral gathering at Koronivia, Nausori as his loved ones bid him a final farewell.

The Year 10 student of Vunimono High School had drowned after he was swept away by waves while swimming at Nasilai Beach in Tailevu last Sunday.
His funeral was held at Koronivia in Nausori yesterday.

Rayshal’s father, Ravin Roy Chand, said he could not believe his son was never coming back.

Teary eyed and struggling to contain his emotions, he said Rayshal had lived with him for 15 years and he could not believe his son was no more.

“Rayshal was a capable student and he had accomplished many things at a young age,” said his teacher, Prakash Chand, when delivering an eulogy for Rayshal.

“He was an exemplary student and sports person who would have made the country proud one day,” Mr Chand said.

Rayshal was passionate about football and had been playing for the Rewa Under 16 team. His teammates and school friends were also present yesterday.
