The Fijian Pearls beat Singapore 65-57 in their first Test clash on Wednesday night.

The Vicki Wilson coached- side had a slow start in the first quarter of the match with goal shooter Unaisi Rauluni missing numerous scoring opportunities due to poor handling while defenders Episake Kahatoka (GK) and Kelera Nawai (GD) were strong at their defensive circle causing turnovers as the Fijians trailed 18-11 at the end of the first quarter.

The services of former Silver Ferns performance analyst Bobby Willcox boosted the performance of the Pearls in the second half as she worked with Wilson on the sideline and caused the turnaround in the second quarter.

The Fijians made a strong come- back winning 80 per cent possession over Singapore as the two sides were locked 26-26 at halftime.

The Fijians lifted the intensity and the introduction of the new players like goal shooter Lydia Panapasa saw them edged out the home side 47-42 at the end of third quarter.

They continued to enjoy most possession in the fourth quarter and sealed the game with a 65-57 win at full time.
