Thousands of people braved the rainy weather yesterday to attend the final day of the National Job Fair in Suva. It followed similar success on the first day.

Fiji Higher Education Commission (FHEC) communication officer, Epi Rawalai said the crowd had been consistent since the opening of the Fair on Wednesday.

He said many graduates who turned up searching for jobs were accompanied by their parents.

Mr Rawalai said before the second day of the Fair opened yesterday the crowd were already lined up at the gate.

“It was interesting to see working people coming around again to search for employment,” he said.

Adding even the retirees too turned up to look for whatever job is available that can suit them.

Mr Raiwalui said the success of the first Fair will determine if they going to move it to the Western or the Northern Division.

“The final decision depends on the Ministry of Employment,” he said.

He added the numbers were more than they expected. To the very last hour people still coming in.

Deputy secretary Vilimoni Baledrokadroka during his closing remarks said this was just the starting.

Yesterday Fiji Sun spoke to some who turned up.

They said the Fair could be taken to a bigger venue.

The National Job Fair was a joint initiative between the

Ministry of Employment and Fiji Higher Education Commission.
