REAL HAPPINESS

An employee of M R Dayal road contractors gets BTL’s Medal of the Week for his initiative.

He was working on the road when he noticed an elderly woman trying in vain to flag a taxi in the rain.

None of the taxis stopped. He left his work station, stood in the middle of the road and stopped the next taxi.

He guided the taxi driver to where the woman stood and helped her safely into the car. As he closed the door, she said “thank you.” He was on a high when he returned to his work station. It is true that real happiness comes when we help those in need.

LYNDA SPECULATION

Speculation has restarted over Lynda Tabuya’s future in SODELPA under Sitiveni Rabuka’s leadership.

A rumour that she has fallen out of her favour seems to be a load of hogwash.

The other night the Opposition leader and Ms Tabuya were sitting together, the only SODELPA Members of Parliament, at a memorial service for the victims of the Sri Lankan bombings.

Mr Rabuka is aware that Ms Tabuya had lifted SODELPA’s profile to new heights prior to the 2018 General Election.

She also scored the party’s second highest votes after him.

In fact he rates her highly despite comments by MP Mosese Bulitavu in an email that her performance as Opposition Whip is under scrutiny.

This is the same Mr Bulitavu who launched a scathing criticism against Ms Tabuya over her dress standard during the ceremonial opening of Parliament last year. Ms Tabuya is still a contender for the party leader and deputy party leader post.

ART OF MESSAGING

A local shipping company is trying to improve its messaging technique through the choice of words.

This is a copy of its latest message:

“Please note dear passengers:

“If we have not announced a change to schedule, then there is no change. We sail all day every day. “Our sailors are not made of sugar; this little rain won’t stop them.

“If the roads are affected, then we will post it here.

“If your FB message is not replied to, it is because there is no change. Please read these posts carefully. Vinaka”
