ADB 2019: Kerin Impressed With Dry Run For Meeting
Fiji Police Force conducted a dry run from the Nadi International Airport to Denarau Island

The Fiji Police Force on Saturday conducted a dry run from the Nadi International Airport to Denarau Island.

The run this week will be big, it will looks flash, official and impressive and most importantly two motorbikes out front of VIP cars and other Police escort cars, flashing light, officers in white gloves etc.

Security and Logistics Coordinator for the ADB Annual Meeting Michael Kerin said: “I am very impressed by what I have seen while working closely with the Fiji Police over the past two months in preparation for the ADB annual meeting.

Fiji Police

“The Fiji Police are trained to a very high standard and are extremely committed and professional.

“Their skill sets are equal to any of the Police or government security teams I have previously worked with.

“The performance of the Fiji Police in today’s extremely successful dry run exercise leaves me in no doubt that all of the delegates especially the ADB Governors and dignitaries will be in very safe hands.”

Deliveries will be running all the way to Denarau but will practice starting off in a pack of different “packets” of VIP delegations but separating en route.

Excise motorist

During the excise motorists are also advised at an intersection will be closed off as you’ll get the police cars at the intersection also.

During the annual meeting, this will be the biggest Police and civil movement.

Fiji has often had 1-4 dignitaries, but never these numbers.
The dry run tests the heaviest anticipated situation six heads of delegation (typically governors – who are typically Minsters of Finance) arriving on one
flight.

This is following on from volunteer training.

Voluteers
Many types of volunteers from way-finding to baggage handling to assisting with meeting room prep went through their roles for the annual meeting
Among them were the load zone volunteers.

Load zone
They make sure the load zones at each hotel venue and the airport are clear, an important job.
And inform delegates on where to get their vehicles from.
