Woman Fronts Court For Allegedly Hitting Partner With Timber

A 34-year-old woman who is charged with one count of act with intent to cause grievous harm appeared at the High Court in Suva yesterday.

Asena Rakavono appeared before Justice Daniel Goundar.

She is alleged to have hit her de facto partner with a piece of timber twice on his head.

The alleged incident occurred on March 2, 2018, at Muanikoso, Nasinu.

State Prosecutor from the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions Eoghan Samisoni told the court that the State was yet to finalise the charges as the victim had died following the injuries he suffered from the alleged incident.

The deceased was 34 years old at the time of the alleged offence.

Mr Samisoni had sought 21 days to file information in the matter.

The case was adjourned to June 10 before Justice Riyaz Hamza for plea.

The accused’s bail was further extended by the High Court.
