Minister for Education, Heritage and Arts Rosy Akbar handed over trans­port assistance to head of schools from the rural and maritime ar­eas at Waisomo House in Suva on Wednesday.

The schools that received a boat and an engine each were:

  • Davetarua Primary Sch (Gau)
  • Daku Village School (Tailevu)
  • Komo Village School (Kabara)
  • Nakasaleka District Sch (Ka­davu)
  • Moce District School (Lau)
  • Wainimala Secondary School (Naitasiri) also received an en­gine for their boat.

Meanwhile, the ministry also handed over two school buses for Malhaha District/Rotuma High School and St John’s College in Levuka.

“Transport Assistance is one of the many government initiatives targeted at increasing accessibility and equity to quality education,” Ms Akbar said.
