The Fiji National Rugby League fraternity is mourning the loss of one of the sport’s long serving administrator and executiver chair­man Peni Musunamasi.

The Naioti, Yale, Kadavu native died at the Colo­nial War Memorial Hospital in Suva yesterday after a short illness, FNRL confirmed yesterday.

The 56-year-old will be remembered for the huge sacrifice he made for the sport.

The Fiji Secondary Schools Rugby League posted on their Facebook page yesterday: “#FSSRL here­by learnt the sad passing of our great secondary school rugby league supporter who has been very instrumental in the development of league since its inception in 2007.

“We offer condolence to the family and the rugby league community in Fiji and abroad. RIP Sir.”

Musunamasi is survived by his wife, four children and five grandchildren.
