Naziah Plans To Lift Womens Football

The Fiji Football Association has revealed plans to further develop women football in the country.

This was stated by businesswoman Naziah Ali- Krishna, the wife of Wellington Phoenix star striker Roy Krishna, who was elected to the Fiji FA board during the Fiji FA congress in Lautoka yesterday.

Naziah who is now the vice-president of women football said it was a proud moment for her.

“I want to help bring women football at the frontier and support the development works as well.

“It’s good to see women taking ownership and contributing to the further development of football in our country.”

Re-elected Fiji FA president Rajesh Patel said it was great for Naziah to come onboard and show her support towards the development of women football.

FRENCH INVITE

Patel highlighted that it was proud moment for them as Vodafone Fijian Women football captain Sofi Diyalowai was invited to fly to Paris, France for a nine- day trial with French Ligue 1 club REISM.

The club was promoted to Ligue 1 this year.

“Sofi is an exceptional footballer and it is up to her to make a mark,” Patel added.

Diyalowai is in Vanuatu to sort out her French visa and Fiji FA is footing the cost of her airfares.

WOMEN COMP

Patel confirmed that the national women’s Under-16 and U19 League will start after the Vodafone Fiji FACT 2019.

The U19 team will play the OFC qualifiers in Cook Islands in August and the U16 team will play in late September to early October, possibly in New Caledonia.

“This competition is run so that we can give a lot of game time to our girls.”

Patel further said that the women’s football team will play in the Pacific Games in Samoa from July 7-20. Edited by Leone Cabenatabua
