Skipper Cup: Nadi Maintain Unbeaten Run

The Jack’s Nadi rugby team have maintained their unbeaten run in the Skipper Cup Premier after they beat Northland 26-19 at Prince Charles Park, Nadi yesterday.
What happened: Nadi started well with a try to captain, Jolame Luvevou in the 5th minute and was converted by Tevita Taga for a 7-0 lead. Northland battled their way back and scored a try to Atalasio Muakalou while first five eight Antonia Rokotuisau missed the conversion as they trailed 7-5.
Nadi dominated possession and ran in two tries to Navitalai Tuilawa and Jiutasa Nave to hold a handy lead at the interval.
Halftime: Nadi 19-5 Northland
In the second half Josaia Colelala scored Northland’s second try as they narrowed the deficit 19-12. This pushed Nadi to extend their lead to 24-5 when In the 61st minute when Joseva Naivalu scored their bonus point try with Epeli Saukuru’s conversion making it 26-12.
The visitors never gave up as they fought back to score their third try to Luke Volavola which was converted.
Other matches: Selva Tours Nadi Women’s side thrashed Northland 28– 0 while in the Under-19 MacDonald’s Nadi also walloped Northland 41–5

Northland coach Watisoni Ratulevu said: “I told the boys that we were supposed to win the game today but due to some errors we committed in the field we were not able to make it.
“I’m so disappointed with the referees and the linesmen who officiated the game. We clearly saw that we had scored two tries but were disallowed.”
Nadi coach Ponijese Lutuciri said: “I thank God for the win today. We will try to lift the standard of our performance next week against Naitasiri.
“We know that Naitasiri is the Farebrother champion but we are ready to battle against them.
