10 Face Court On Criminal Trespass Charges

10 Face Court On Criminal Trespass Charges

 

The Nasinu Magistrates Court yesterday granted bail to 10 men from Colo-i-Suva who face criminal trespass charges.

The 10 men are Lemeki Duidomo, Josefa Ravia, Sakenasa Aca, Taitusi Rokoua, Taitusi Toduadua, Mosese Vosabeci, Luke Tumaivei, Jone Gadai, Jope Rokotuitogo and Lemeki Duidomo.

They appeared before Magistrate Charles Ratakele yesterday. The 11th accused in the matter is admitted at the hospital and was not present in court.

It is alleged that on May 4, the  men threatened to cut off water supply to to Suva. They allegedly livestreamed the threat on social media, claiming their attempt to close the dam had to do with their landowning unit’s compensation claim, which was outstanding.

The men allegedly entered the Savura Dam premises in Wailoku, Suva, and allegedly threatened to cut off water supply to residents in Suva. All the 10 accused persons were granted bail on strict conditions.

They were ordered to stay 200 metres away from the Government property and not to interfere with prosecution witnesses.

The matter was adjourned for mention to June 18.
