Remember, Honour our Mothers this Sunday

This Sunday is Mother’s Day.

On this very special Sunday we are reminded how, for nine months, our mothers carried us. We are reminded of the sleepless nights our mothers spent to take care of us when we would cry out loud in the middle of the night.

We are reminded how they still loved us despite getting mad at us for doing something wrong. We are reminded of the great things they have done for us.

Be reminded that no physical item can repay your mother for all the love she’s sent your way, but Mother’s Day is still a good time to give her some token of your affection

Mother’s Day is a reminder of what “mother” has meant through the years from childhood to adulthood.

Without our mothers, where would any of us be? As much as dads are important, our mothers literally give us life and do most of the parenting during our early years.

An American educationist said: “There are millions of mothers, and there are millions of ways to acknowledge mum on Mother’s Day. If time escapes us on other days of the year, Sunday is the day to express appreciation to mum.”

Every day should be mother’s day. The best way to celebrate mum is by giving her a day off from worrying about you and telling her you love her.

Better yet, fix what’s broken in your life and strive for more happiness. Surely this will make your mother happier.

We also salute all the mothers out there who made sacrifices to give their families and children a better life. We salute all the mothers who remained strong despite the bumps in life.

However, let us also all remember that Mother’s Day is not the only day when we recognise the great things our mothers did for us or treat them somewhere special or thank them for what they did.

Let our mothers feel and know how much we love them and how thankful we are for them every day.

Let us also apologise to them if we hurt their feelings like failing to say thank you when they do something special for us or when we said something hurtful to them out of frustration or anger.

A Catholic priest once said: “Mother’s Day is a nice occasion to thank your mother for everything she did for you over the years. It should certainly not be the only occasion in which you offer her thanks for all she has done. She deserves so much more than that.”

So on this Mother’s Day celebration, make your mothers feel special.

Happy Mother’s Day to all our mothers.
