New Judge Takes Oath Before President

A new Judge of the Court of Appeal was sworn in yesterday by the President, Major-General (ret’d) Jioji Konrote, at the State House.

Justice Dayaratne took oath before the Fijian Head of State and senior members of the Fijian Judiciary.

He comes with vast experience having gained his first qualification from the Sri Lanka Law College in 1989-1992 and went on to complete Masters of Law in Inter­national Trade Law in 2008.

Justice Dayaratne served as a lecturer in the Law of Contracts, University of London, Bachelor of Laws De­gree Course conducted by the Informatics Institute of Technology, Colombo 4, Sri Lanka, 2005-2009.

He spent a significant part of his career at the Sri Lankan Attorney-General’s Department and has also served on special international assignments.

Justice Dayaratne has attended and presented at many international law conferences and seminars.
