The Centenary Methodist Church of Fiji was filled with glowing smiles from its congregation as it celebrated and honoured women on the important role they play as mothers in our society today.

The Women’s Ministry Leader, Joana Waqairatu, could not hold back her joy as she shared the significance and importance of Mother’s Day.

“We were filled with joy as we came this Sunday to celebrate Mother’s Day and it was a wonderful service,” said the wife of former Methodist Church President, the late Reverend Tuikilakila Waqairatu.

“Mothers play a very important role in the family because they hold the family together. From a child’s upbringing and in teaching good values and behaviour for their future.”

Church senior pastor Reverend Iliapi Tuwai urged the younger generation to take every opportunity in spending time with family and to appreciate the hard work mothers do in the family.

“Mothers do a great deal of work for a family, especially in the lives of children, they’re upbringing mentally, physically and spiritually,” the Reverend said.

Mothers who took the pulpit to deliver the Sunday message spoke on love and importance of family and the love of Christ Jesus.
