Independent Committee To Investigate Uni Fiji Allegations

An independent committee will investigate student allegations against Centre for I-Taukei Students Director Dr Litiana Kuridrani.
In a statement, the University of Fiji Vice Chancellor, Professor Subramani said the decision to form an independent committee was unanimously resolved during a meeting today.
Filipe Bainivalu, the president of the UniFiji Justice Devendra Pathik School of Law Students Association at the Samabula campus, complained about the remarks made by Dr Kuridrani last week in an email, labelling him as an “Indian dog”.
The University management had discussed the issue with both the students and Dr Kuridrani. They also received opinions and views on the matter from university stakeholders – with a view to address within the internal procedures of the University.
The Acting Vice Chancellor, Registrar, Executive Director Finance, the Deans of the Schools of Humanities and Arts Professor Tupeni Baba and Dean of the JDP School of Law and the International Relations Programme, Professor Shaista Shameem, the President of the University of Fiji Student Association Ratu Sailosi Dawai, Dr Kuridrani, Mr Bainivalu and his executives met at the Samabula campus earlier today, May 17, 2019.
The report is expected to to submitted to the Acting Vice Chancellor soon.
