The Voqa Mai Europe (VmE), a group of Fijian supporters, presented the Fiji Airways Fijian 7s team their gift after training in London yesterday.

“I’ve presented our gift to team Fiji here in London on your behalf,” VmE official William Fred posted on their Facebook page.

But Fiji’s High Commissioner in the United Kingdom, Jitoko Tikolevu had already formed a committee last month to prepare for the hosting of the team.

Former Flying Fijians lock forward Sekonaia Kalou along with former Fijian rugby players living in the UK are part of the committee.

The committee members hav devise ways to raise funds for the team who are also the defending champions of the London 7s.

“The third and final fundraising drive has been planned on day two of the London 7s.

“A special invite has been extended to fans and friends of Fiji Rugby to come and share the evening with our players and any financial contribution would be very much appreciated,” he said.

The committee also conveyed their gratitude to the Fijian and Pacific Islands rugby players who are currently playing in the UK as they’ve accepted to donate autographed club jerseys which is to be raffled and auctioned.

Kalou said players who have accepted a young Fijian born England winger Joe Cokanasiga, Manu Vunipola (Saracens), Api Ratuniyarawa (Northampton Saints), Netani Talei (Harlequins), Semi Kunatani (Harlequins) with a few other players are expected to join the list. The London 7s will be on May 25-26
