Israel Folau To Pursue Other Legal Options, Do What Is Best For Family, Teammates And Fans

Israel Folau has hit back at Rugby Australia after his contract was officially terminated.
His statement comes after the star player failed to contact Rugby Australia during the 72-hour appeal window.
In a statement today, Rugby Australia confirmed that the Code of Conduct matter had been formally concluded, with Folau failing to meet the 72-hour deadline to appeal the decision.
Folau’s no-show means his employment contract has been terminated.
However, Folau later released a statement declaring he has lost confidence in Rugby Australia’s ability to treat him “fairly or lawfully” and suggesting he would pursue legal options.
“The messages of support from fans, players, former rugby administrators and the public have been humbling,” he said.
“I believe I still have a lot of rugby left in me and the potential impact of Rugby Australia’s decision on my reputation and my career is substantial.
“Ultimately, I need to do what is best for my family, my teammates and the fans, so I am considering all potential avenues open to me.”
Media reports suggest that the former Wallabies fullback is now expected to pursue his legal options of challenging the three-person panel’s decision to terminate his contract through the Supreme Court.
