What’s his problem?

A man who chased away a Fiji Sun reporter from Dratabu, Nadi, going to visit the home of Atelaite Koto and her two sons in Togomasi, must have been out of his mind.

When the reporter arrived at the site, the man, understood to be one of the owners of the land where Ms Koto built her makeshift shelter for her two sons, chased the reporter away.

He said “enough taking pictures and enough writing.”

He should realise that because of a Fiji Sun article on the single mother and her two boys, many people are coming forward to offer help.

BTL cannot understand what is the man’s problem.

Is it because this young family is now getting all the attention from the public. Why didn’t members of the local community come to their aid before their predicament was highlighted in the Fiji Sun?

‘Be prepared’ warning

Magistrate Seini Puamau did not mince her words when she gave a stern warning to Police prosecutors about coming to court in Labasa not adequately prepared.

Ms Puamau came from Suva recently to fill in for another magistrate.

While presiding in cases at the Labasa Magistrates Court yesterday she said she found there were many mistakes made by some officers.

She said it caused too much delay in filing right documents. It also imposed a financial burden on the accused and complainant.

She then said ‘by hook or crook your office will do better before I leave.”

BTL commends FRA

The Fiji Roads Authority must be commended for fixing two of the worst stretches of roads in terms portholes in the Central Division. The Waila Road has been fixed. The Tamavua to Fiji School of Nursing stretch is currently being repaired. BTL had highlighted the need to fix the roads recently.
