Nasinu Man In Court For Sacrilege

A 20-year-old man of Nasinu charged with sacrilege and theft has been remanded in custody by the Magistrates Court in Nasinu.

Jone Kubu appeared before Magistrate Charles Ratakele yesterday.

He is charged with one count each of sacrilege and of theft.

It is alleged that on May 17, 2019 at Nakasi, Kubu entered into a place of worship.

It is alleged that on the same day, the accused stole $16 worth of coins from the same place.

Police prosecutor Constable Setareki Mocevakaca served the full phase disclosures to the accused and also objected to his bail on the grounds of public interest on the sacrilege charge.

Kubu opted to be represented by Legal Aid Commission.

The accused was remanded in custody pending bail hearing.
