Hollywood could be on the horizon for Pasifika Voices as composer and producer Igelese Ete has been able to entice American producers to look at Fiji.

Just fresh from the success of Disney feature movie Moana, Mr Ete is now looking at taking his home production Malaga – The Journey to Hollywood and even Broadway.

“This is something exciting. I have been having talks with Hollywood and they are looking at coming to Fiji to have a look at Pasifika Voices and also Malaga,” he said.

“What they will do with the idea and concept is not yet decided. It could be a movie or an animated feature but those things will be decided later.

“A lot has to do with the success of Moana. Hollywood has realised the potential in the Pacific.”

Mr Ete said this would be a dream come true for many local artists. He said if all goes through as planned, then a door would be opened for local performers and artists.

“Fiji is quite unique because there is a mix of so many different cultures. These cultures are unique on their own and form an original sound when fused,” he added.

“These sounds can appeal to a wider audience and I believe that most of our artists have the potential to perform on an international scene.”

Mr Ete said the visit was planned for June but this will happen at a later date. He said this is something that will ensure a brighter future for all local artists.
