At 29-years -old, Fijian born Priya Singh is helping lead the world’s largest exporter of dairy products, Fonterra.
A world class speaker, Ms Singh is the general manager, Enterprise Data and Financial Excellence at Fonterra.
Ms Singh, who resides in Auckland, New Zealand, was the guest speaker at the Fiji Institute of Accountants (FIA) organised Women in Leadership series at Suva’s Grand Pacific Hotel yesterday. She spoke about her key to success during the BSP Life sponsored event which was attended by more than 150 delegates.
Key to success:
“My secret to success, I think is having relentless curiosity. I think a lot of people think that if you work hard you will be successful, but I genuinely think what you really need is relentless curiosity.
“If something comes into your mind and you are really curious about it whether, its how the last global financial crises happened or whether why are some economies are not doing as well as other economies or whatever it may be.
“If something has captured your interest and its a question you want to answer, don’t just think about it and go yeah! Just be relentlessly curious, because what you will find once you latch on to something is what you will make and you follow through.
“Learn about it, figure out what you want to do about it, talk to other people about it, you will end up doing something about it and that’s been my secret to success. I have always needed something to be done about an idea or a thought or a niggling thing that comes in to my mind because I have been relentless curiosity about it instead of just saying oh that was a nice thought and forget about it.”
She has been recognised internationally for her social impact leadership through Karma Collective and Mentor me Fiji Foundation, two organisations of which she is the founder and chief executive officer.
