$1.2m Upgrade To House Modern Check-in Facility For Transient Boats, Border Services

The $1.2 million two storey building at the Port Denarau Marina will feature a modern check-in facility for transient boats, border services and other tenants.
PDM general manager Cynthia Rasch said the Marina Reservations building is expected to be completed mid-November this year.
“This building will showcase a modern and environmentally responsible construction,” Ms Rasch said.
Meanwhile according to Ms Rasch the marina is currently waiting on the approval of their dredge permit to carry out maintenance dredging to accommodate an additional 10 super yachts on the private dock.
The marina has had transitional changes and with three major upgrades to the private jetty to cater for more super yachts and larger vessels of up to 85 metre in length.
“In 2011/12 the marina also had dredging works carried out to cater for larger vessels requiring clearance,” she said.
“Dredging works then increased depth from 3.5m to 5m at zero tide.
“We are now waiting for the approval to carry out dredging to accommodate an additional 10 super yachts.”
Port Denarau Marina was initially purchased by Skeggs Group in 1999 but it wasn’t until 2010 when they catered for their first lot of super yachts with an extension of their super yacht berths on their private jetty.
Port Denarau Marina has P&O ferries transit to and fro the marina as well as other commercial vessels that have the marina as their home port.
It is an award-winning marina operation and the first and only marina which caters for super yachts in Fiji.
PDM was awarded the Marina Industries Association (MIA) Hall of Fame early this month.
MIA is the peak industry body for marina industries in Australia, Asia and the South Pacific regions
“This is an added bonus and a great motivation for our entire team,” Ms Rasch said.
Denarau Fiji’s premier and only super yacht marina has for the second time been recognised at an international stage for its efforts in promoting tourism and providing a world-class marina service to a range of customers.
Meanwhile Fiji will be represented by Port Denarau Marina at the 29th Monaco Yacht Show on September 25–28, 2019 at Port Hercules, Monaco.
The Monaco Yacht Show is recognised as the world leading super yacht event.
