Olympic Day Run To Help Needy Kids

The Fiji Association of Sports and National Olympic Committee (FASANOC) in partnership with Save the Children Fiji will host this year’s Olympic Day run which is on June 29.
The theme for the Olympic Week will be “Move, Learn and Discover.”
Speaking during a press conference at Save the Children Fiji head office in Suva yesterday, FASANOC chief executive officer Loraine Mar was grateful for the partnership and urged members of the public to come out and support the event.
“I’m really happy to announce the partnership of an annual event which is the Olympic Day run,” she said.
“This is actually organised by all Olympic committees around the world to commemorate the founding of the Olympic movement.
“It’s a great event for families and we will be launching this event in Lautoka next Saturday and we’ve made it as a special event for people with disability.
“For us it’s not about but using sports as a mean to promote physical activity for a healthy lifestyle. We are very excited to have partnered with Damodar City which we hope FOR a much- bigger event.”
Save the Children Fiji programmes manager Shairana Ali was appreciative towards the level of support received from the co-sponsors of the event.
“We actually acknowledged the partnership for the Olympic Day run and today marks a very important day for us. As an organisation working for children’s rights we are very grateful to be part of this charity event. We do heavily rely on corporate organisations in providing us with the funding with the kind of work we do here in Fiji.
“With all the partnership on board for this event will have an impact on the lives of children in Fiji.
“I extend my appreciation to our equal important partners and these are Sports World, FMF, Fiji Water, Powerade, Get Lean Fiji, Fiji Gas, Ministry of Health and other medical services.
“I call upon all members of the public to participate on the day and since it’s an open event we expect a lot of participants.”
Damodar Group of Companies head of marketing Manoa Puamau said they are grateful to partner with anything that is beneficial to the community.
“When we were approached for this partnership we felt that it was an ideal opportunity for us show our support to this worthy course.”
The Olympic Run entry fee are $5 for adults and from the purchase of every $3 will be donated towards Save the Children fund.
