Tailevu Provincial Council Chairman Concerned With High Number Of Inmates From Province

Tailevu is concerned with the number of inmates from the province in prisons.
As of yesterday there were a total of 234 inmates from the province of Tailevu in all prisons across the country.
This number was confirmed to the Fiji Sun by the Deputy Commissioner of the Fiji Corrections Service (FCS) Sakiusa Veiwili on behalf of the FSC chief, Commander Francis Kean.
Statistically the province of Tailevu, when compared to the other 13 provinces, has the highest number of iTaukei inmates.
Reacting to this, the chairman of the Tailevu Provincial Council and currently the Acting Commissioner of Police Rusiate Tudravu said the council was very concerned.
He said another concern for the council was that they knew of those from the villages in Tailevu and the others were claiming to be from Tailevu, but lived in Suva.
For Tailevu topping the list of inmates according to a report has not changed since 2013.
