Fiji Navy: Sokoilagi First Female To Graduate From NZ Defence Centre

Midshipman Mereseini Sokoilagi is the first female from the Republic of Fiji Military Forces Naval Division to graduate from the Defence International Learning Centre based at Trentham, Wellington.
On its Facebook page, the Fiji Navy congratulated Midshipman Sokoilagi and Midshipman Peni Koroitubuna who was awarded the Captain Welles trophy for being the Parade Commander during the pass out.
This is a milestone for the Fiji Navy and the two officers.
Commander Fiji Navy, Captain Humphrey Tawake and Master at Arms Warrant Officer Class One Sitiveni Jitoko were in Auckland to witness the event.
Meanwhile in the United States of America, Lieutenant Commander Isoa Tokalauvere graduated with distinctions from the US Naval War College, Newport, Rhode Island.

The course incorporated subjects that looked at operations planning, military history, leadership and command humanitarian and disaster relief operations, international relations and governance and specific military subjects.
The course is aimed at preparing senior officers for high command and staff roles.
Fiji’s Ambassador to the United States, Solo Mara was also present at the event.
