3 Fijians Complete Naval Officer Courses In New Zealand And the United States

The Republic of the Fiji Military Forces Naval Division has congratulated Midshipwoman Mereseini Sokoilagi and Midshipman Peni Koroitubuna after they successfully graduated from the Royal New Zealand Navy Officers Training School on Saturday.
It was a milestone for Midshipwoman Sokoilagi after being the first female from the Fijian Navy to graduate from an officer training establishment overseas.
Midshipman Koroitubuna was the parade commander for the passing-out and was awarded the Captain Welles trophy.
Commander Fiji Navy, Captain Humphrey Tawake and Master at Arms Warrant Officer Class One Sitiveni Jitoko were in Auckland to witness the milestone event for the the RFMF Naval Division.
Meanwhile, in the United States Naval War College on Newport, Rhode Island, another Fijian, Lieutenant Commander Isoa Tokalauvere graduated with distinction.

The graduation was witnessed by Fiji’s Ambassador to the US Solo Mara.

The course encompasses subjects in operations planning, military history, leadership and command, HADR, International relations and governance and a wide array of specific military subjects with the aim of preparing senior officers for higher command and staff roles.
