Orisi Tukuna Dedicated His Achievement To His Parents

New Police recruit Orisi Tukana Junior is following in his parents’ footsteps.
Yesterday he joined the Fiji Police Force after he graduated as a new recruit from the Police Academy in Nasova.
There were mixed emotions because his dad Orisi Tukana Senior died in February after an illness and was honoured in a full Police funeral service.
Junior dedicated his achievement to his father whom he described as an inspiration and mother, Helen, who is still serving in the force.
“I only wished dad was here today to witness our Passing Out Parade, but I know he was watching from above,” he said.
Junior said he was fulfilling his father’s wish to join the force.
Now that he is gone, Mr Tukana said he would be guided by his advice – “To be obedient and be loyal and at all times be led by the Holy Father”.
Junior said he was ready to serve in whatever district he was going to be posted to.
His mother Helen Suzie, who works at the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), said she was happy with his son’s achievement.
Meanwhile, the winner of the Commandant’s Book Prize for The Most Improved Recruit, Rendal Dageago from Nauru was very pleased to receive his prize.
He said he was not expecting it and was surprised when his name was announced as winner.
His grandfather Moses Dageago had also graduated as a recruit constable from the Fiji Police Academy in the early 1980s.
The other two prize recipients were:
1) The Commissioner’s Book Prize was given to Police Constable 6154 Vesito Kubunameca from Nukutocia, Lovoni, Ovalau.
He was educated at Queen Victoria School (QVS) and has a Diploma in Business Management from the Fiji National University.
2) The Baton of Honour was given to Police Constable 6119 Josaia Domo from Tagaqe Village in Nadroga. He was educated at Sigatoka Methodist School and has a Diploma in Hotel Management and Operation from the Fiji National University.
