The Fiji Rugby Union will issue a statement on a Marist Brothers High School student getting injured from a falling crossbar while playing rugby last Saturday (June 22).

Chief executive officer John O’Connor confirmed yesterday that FRU’s development manager Sale Sorovaki had met with officials from the Fiji Secondary Schools Rugby Association to discuss the incident.

O’Connor said he was waiting to receive a report from the meeting before issuing a statement on the injury which came during the Vodafone Fiji Secondary Schools Deans Rugby southern zone competition.

MBHS under-17 player Savenaca Domoni injured his skull during their match against Nasinu Secondary School at the Suva Grammar School grounds when the crossbar fell on his head.

Domoni’s guardian, Dr Richard Tavo, said the impact of the crossbar could have killed him.
