Former Fiji Corrections Service Commissioner Ifereimi Vasu and Acting Deputy Commissioner for FCS Peniasi Kurivitu Kunatuba facing corruption-related charges appeared at the High Court in Suva for the first day of their trial yesterday.

However, due to the power outage at the Suva Court House, the trial will start at 10.30am.

The two appeared before Justice Riyaz Hamza.

Vasu and Kunatuba are charged with one count of abuse of office each by the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC). They deny the charges.

Bail was extended for both of the accused persons.
