A 55-year-old security guard of Nadi was remanded in custody by the Nadi Magistrates Court yesterday for allegedly stabbing his partner.

The accused, Kamueli Raqio, 55,  of Qina Settlement, Nawaka, appeared before Magistrate Nilmini Fernandez charged with one count of causing grievous harm.

The court heard that the alleged incident happened on July 7 in Nadi Town where the accused allegedly stabbed his de facto partner, a 35-year-old waitress of Vunavau Street, Nadi Town.

Prosecutor Sergeant Frances Bale objected to bail, saying the case was serious and under investigation and the complainant was recovering at Nadi Hospital.

The accused will reappear in court on July 22.
