The province of Namosi is mourning the death of its provincial council chairman, Samisoni Tuilawaki in Suva last Sunday.

The death was confirmed by Roko Tui Namosi Rupeni Kunaturaga yesterday.

Mr Tuilawaki, originally from Nakavu Village, Veivatuloa district, had been suffering from illness for some time.

Yesterday Mr Kunaturaga led a delegation from the Namosi Provincial Council to traditionally inform the Permanent Secretary for Ministry of iTaukei Affairs, Ratu Meleti Bainimarama, of Mr Tuilawaki’s death.

Mr Tuilawaki was appointed Namosi Provincial Council chairman in May to replace the former chair, Ratu Romanu Matanitobua, who died after a short illness.

He chaired the last Namosi council meeting in May at Ro Kuruduadua House in Navua.

Mr Tuilawaki worked for the Namosi Provincial Council for 23 years before he retired in 2013.

He was the Managing Director of the Namosi Development Company, chairman of the Veivatuloa Tikina Council Meeting, a member of the Provincial Development Board and the Divisional Development Board and chair of Adi Namosi, Staff and Finance and Development committee of the Provincial Council meeting.

The funeral church service will be at 10am at the Nakavu Village Church and he will be laid to rest at the village cemetery.
