It was down to the last 18 to decide for the men’s triples final but Fiji with experienced players pulled through to beat Cook Islands 17-15 and scoop the gold medal.

The men were tied at 15-15 after the 17 end but a tricky move by the Fijians skipper Semesa Naiseruvati gave them the edge at the 18 end.

“This is my first gold in this discipline and we give God the glory and honour,” Naseruvatu said.

“We played as a team and we knew Cook Islands will be a tough to beat so we kept it together and had a successful game plan.”

The Fiji men’s triple team consisted of Abdul Kalim, Kushal Pillay and Naiseruvati.

Naiseruvati will defend his gold medal in the men’s singles competition today.

Meanwhile, Fiji men’s pair of David Aitcheson and Rajnesh Prasad settled for the silver medal after losing to hosts Samoa 17-11 in the final
