An ugly brawl involving parents and players during the Labasa Secondary Schools Football Association’s Northern Under-17 playoffs is now being investigated by the competition disciplinary committee.

The clash between Labasa College and Seaqaqa Central College was played last Saturday.

LSSFA Zone 2 president Mashud Ali yesterday confirmed to SUNsports about the alleged incident

Seaqaqa Central College have qualified for the FSSFA’s Interdistrict Championship competition in Ba next month after they beat Labasa College 2-1.

“The disciplinary committee will meet and discuss this week about the incident,” Ali said.

“They’ll decide what to be done to the two players who were shown the red cards during the match.

“We’re waiting to receive a report from the referee who conducted the game as the alleged brawl was initiated while the two players were still on the field. As soon as the match ended parents of the players fought among themselves.”

Ali confirmed that police officers had to be called in to control the situation.

Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro confirmed that Labasa Police received a call and they attended to the matter

“There was no report lodged because no one wanted to lodge.

“However, if someone comes forward then we will initiate investigations,” she added.
