Bowler Semesa Naiseruvati has announced his retirement from the sport after winning two gold medals for Team Fiji at the Pacific Games  in Apia, Samoa yesterday.

The Vutuna, Nairai, native won his second gold medal in the lawn bowls men’s single event after beating Iva Tiatin of Samoa 21-13 in the gold medal playoff.

He earlier won gold in the men’s fours on Thursday.

“It was a tough match especially when defending my gold medal, all the hard work in  preparations and all sacrifices has finally paid off,” the veteran bowler.

“I’m happy with the fact bowling is contributing to the gold medal tally for Team Fiji.

“I want to thank God for his blessing in helping me to defend my title, God is good.”

Naiseruvati confirmed that the 2019 Games was his last and that he would retire to contribute to the development of bowling in Fiji.

Meanwhile, the women and men’s  triples team  won bronze and the women’s double settled for silver.
