Fiji Police Officer Appointed For United Nations Yemen Mission

The Fiji Police Force is stepping up its peacekeeping footprint under the United Nations banner.
The latest deployment involves Senior Superintendent Malakai Kivarua, previously commander of the Fiji Police contingent in South Sudan, who has been appointed to the UN peacekeeping mission in Yemen.
This was revealed by Police Commissioner Brigadier General Sitiveni Qiliho, who says it is part of the Prime Minister’s pledge to increase participation in peacekeeping.
“I am also looking to deploy more women officers and although we have exceeded our quota, we have the potential to not only send more, but have them take up top posts within the UN and have been working closely with our New York office in this regard,” he said.
