Morale is high in Team Fiji’s 7-member boxing team.

The team arrived on the island of Savaii yesterday, Savaii is the Pacific Games boxing venue.

Section manager Tulele Logavatu said the boys can’t wait to get in the ring and fight to win gold.

The team arrived on a Fiji Airways flight and made their way by ferry to Savaii by midday.

This is the first international competition for five out of seven boxers including team captain Jonathan Hill. His younger brother, Olympian Winston Hill is eyeing to put on an impressive performance in order to compete in Russia in the upcoming International Boxing Association (AIBA) Elite Men’s World Championship, Logavatu said.

This is part of his campaign to be in Japan for the 2020 Olympics.

Winston and Jone Koroilagilagi Davule were the only 2 boxers that qualified to compete in the Commonwealth Games 2018.

The boxing event starts tomorrow at Don Bosco Savaii.
