The Civil High Court in Suva has found a former SODELPA failed candidate, Anirudh Sharma, guilty for contempt of court.

Sharma was charged in relation with a post on social media against a presiding magistrate in a criminal case.

The matter was called yesterday before Judge Justice Lyone Seneviratne for judgement.

Justice Seneviratne said the court had found that the respondent (Sharma) was guilty of the offence.

Sharma, on September 27, 2018, shared Fiji Sun’s story titled “Nasinu businessman appears for drug charge in Labasa” on his Facebook page and made comments about the decision and administration of justice.

The applicant (A-G’s Chambers) was given until July 29 to file submissions and the matter was adjourned for sentencing to August 12.
