Banuve Tabakaucoro blitzed the track at Apia Park Stadium to win gold in the 100m.

He clocked a time of 10.31s against a -0.08 head wind.

Tabakaucoro broke his own Pacific Games record of 10.33s.

Former sprinter and assistant athletics coach Jone Delai applauded Tabakaucoro for returning to athletics.

“He was written off by many, but today he proved them wrong.

“I take my hat off to him,” Delai said.
