It was a horrific ordeal for commuters waiting at the Nadera Bus Stop in Yasiyasi Road yesterday when a bus ran over an elderly woman.

Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro, the woman believed to be in her 60s, was allegedly that hit by the bus while attempting to cross the road.

She said the woman was transferred to Colonial War Memorial Hospital after being taken to the Valelevu Health Centre.

A witness, who was passing by in a taxi, said he saw the woman being taken to the hospital.

“It was horrific. The bus had gone over the woman. I think, it her right side. I could see some people helping her from under the bus and carrying her into a taxi,” Shiu Kumar said.

According to Ms Naisoro, the woman is in a stable condition.

Meanwhile, a seven-year-old boy died on Saturday after he was allegedly bumped by a truck driven by a 36-year-old man in Savu Village, Tailevu.
