Women In Business Condemn SODELPA Member Of Parliament’s Comments

Women in Business joins all the women of Fiji in condemning the sexist and racist comments made by Mosese Bulitavu against all Fijian Women.
First he calls Indo-Fijian women promiscuous and then he tells iTaukei women that they are lucky that they don’t get hit with knives.
Both these statements are extremely damaging to women’s progress and therefore deplorable in the strongest terms.
Such misogynistic statements on the day of our Awards celebrating women’s progress and success was very disturbing to all of us.
So we reject him as he has no place in the Fiji of today where women should be equal to men in whatever occupation they choose.
We do hope he is a lone voice in the wilderness, but are concerned that, that may not be the case.
Fiji as a country should reject him and remove him from all processes of public life as we cannot allow our young people to hear from such men as we work hard to progress as a country with equal opportunity for all.
