A 28-year-old widow Warsha Sharma has realised the importance of attaining better qualifications so she has decided to pursue her education further.

On Wednesday the mother-of-two children graduated with a certificate in Housekeeping and Accommodation Services at the Fiji National University at Namaka Campus in Nadi.

Working as a cashier at MaxVal-u she now plans to continue studies at the FNU because she wants employment in the tourism industry.

“I really wanted to study and get a good education because I wanted a better life for me and my two children,” Mrs Sharma said.

“In order to achieve something in life, we must make sacrifices in a lot of areas.

“I want to have a good job and a better future. Working as a cashier I won’t be able to support my family in the long run.

“I have decided to take up some tourism-related courses at FNU.

“I thank my employer MaxVal-u for allowing me to further my studies.”

She chose to do a housekeeping course because of a desire to work in the tourism industry.

As a mother of two young children, it is not easy to juggle work, school and family.

So after her husband passed away last year, they went to live with her brother at their parents place.

“I have made some hard choices. I have to give up my two-year-old daughter to my aunty to take care of her,” she said.

“Graduating with a certificate is not the end of my studies. I want to pursue more for a much better qualification to secure a good job to support my family,” Mrs Sharma added.
