The fearless Tavua football team are taking on the challenge in this year’s INKK Mobile Battle of the Giants tournament that gets underway at Ratu Cakobau Park, Nausori, on Friday.

Tavua Football Association vice-president Michael Roy Prasad told Fiji FA Media that they are drawn in a tough pool where they face defending champions Ba, last year’s runner up Suva and Labasa.

“I would say that we’re in pool of death,” Prasad said.

“We are not scared of them but will do our best.”

Tavua Football are known for producing top football players like Josefa Masilagi, Jone Watisoni, Alfred Arapio, Ronald Chaudhry, Vili Batidegei, Temueru Tekiata, Kaliova Dau and Vilitati Kautoga.

Prasad said he was confident that they would give their opponents are tough go.

“I know all these teams will underestimate since we have lost some of our players in the transfer window.

“But we are bringing over young and energetic players who are all home grown boys and they are committed to do their district proud.”

Prasad said the team are preparing well under the guidance of legendary midfielder and former Labasa coach Anand Sami.

“We now know who all we are playing in the group stages I think this will make Sami to work extra harder to build-up a competitive team,”

“We will come in as underdogs and surely we’ll surprise many fans during the tournament, “said Prasad.
