Cuvu College Primed For Finals

It’s a do-or-die encounter.
That’s how Cuvu College skipper Josateki Tuituba described their semi-final clash against defending Vodafone Super Deans Under-18 champion Ratu Kadavulevu School.
Dubbed as the David vs Goliath battle and a repeat of last year’s U18 final, Tuituba said it would be another torrid encounter.
“Without any doubt RKS is a remarkable side but we are playing as host so the onus is on us,” he said.
Tuituba, who plays at number eight, is among the three survivors from last year’s team.
The others are robust halfback Mesake Tove and versatile lock forward Ratu Jone Naulunisau.
“It’s a do-or-die for us. It won’t be easy though but we will give our best shot,” Tuituba said.
“We know that we are not only carrying the hopes of the school but our province as well.”
The spotlight rests on first five-eighth Jack Volavola.
The Yadua, Nadroga native is the nephew of former national 7s forward Mosese Volavola.
He moved to Cuvu College this year after studying at Natabua High School and has featured in the age group competition.
“This is a different ball game altogether and we are training for the biggest game of our lives in secondary school level.”
NAUGA INFLUENCE
BLK Nadroga head coach Esala Nauga visited the team while training at the Kalevu ground, in Cuvu, Sigatoka.
“This is your final match and treat it as such, forget the previous matches, play your best and play as a team.
“You are playing at your home ground and that’s should be an advantage.
“There will be a lot of cheering from the stands.
Do not play to the crowd but stick to the game plan, you can do it,” Nauga reminded the players.
The match kicks-off at 3.30pm.
